Shakedown at E-town crashes

I guess there was 5 or more crashes there this past weekend. Some of them pretty bad. Heres a few links of some nice cars getting destroyed.

I think these cars are getting too fast on too small a tire.

It's getting to the point your going to have to have spare cars like NASCAR. Just break out a backup.

I don't think its the tire size. Most of these guys won't roll out of the throttle until its across the finish line or on its top.

Most of those heads up guys that go to shakedown have more money than brains. But they do put on a good show!!

The guy in the red car was 1/8th mi past the FL and still had no chutes out....1.51 into the video.

Hey Bob....that was a Pro Nitrous car and they were running 1/4 mile at that race. Not sure what caused the wreck but Bartunek has at least 10 years experience driving Pro Stock and Pro Mods.

I believe the small tire cars going that fast don't have much margin for error when they start moving around. Some of the guys that wrecked were pretty experienced drivers and they can get away from you a lot faster than a big tire car.

Word I got was something in the air launcher system failed.....perhaps damaged on the run.

Anytime you have heads-up racing with big purses and extra $$ incentives for record runs....you're going to have incidents.


Important thing here is.....drivers all survided to race another day.


I'm saving the footage of Newsham's incident for the next time someone cries about new safety rules, bars, gussets, jackets, pants, fire systems, etc. So glad to see him climb out of that mess.....kudos to Montana Bros Race Cars.

I think Newsham said the hans devise saved his ass with a head on hit to the wall like that. I read somewhere that the seatbelt or the mount tore when he hit.
