This should be a question more for owners or promoters. I don't think many of them ever think of this. How up to date and informative is your web site? If some local kid came to your track for the first time to test and tune their car would it be a friendly experience that they would tell their friends about? Would they return to do iy again and possibly become a regular? Does the staff recognize a new participant and do they offer assistance for first timers? Or is it more of a you have to know what to do and where to do it on your own friends and family only welcome type deal? Does the track reach out into the community looking for new particpants or is it back to the friends and family deal? Does the street class have regular racers in it or is it strictly for newer racers? Would you go back to a track to run street if that's the way it is and you were a newbie?
If a racer travels to race at your track for the first time what is the impression your track gives? Do they drive miles in the pits looking for an open spot being chased from the ones they pull in by the local racers? Are the reserved pit stalls clearly marked or is there confusion as to which ones are reserved? Do the pit gate people recognize an out of town racer and do they offer assistance? Or is it more of a we don't want no outsiders coming here experience? Does the staff, owner or promoter ever ask anyone what the racing experience at their track is like? Does the track have a working relationship with the community? Does the track work with local media make itself more of an inviting place? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Eman, |

You have a very good point there. And as a track manager now it is very important to get new racers to the tracks.

Sucessfull businesses are continually interested in improving the services they provide for their customers. From the moment a new racer enters the property he/she is forming perceptions of that experience. The first opportunity to make that a positive experience is when they reach the ticket booth. If that employee is friendly, courteous and helpfull it starts that process off on a positive note. I've been to a lot of tracks in the past 52 years, and I've met some very rude folks who hated their jobs. Their way of feeling better was to make your day miserable. Never miss the opportunity to inform the Track Manger when you encounter an employee who is rude or inconsiderate. "Word of mouth" can make or break a Race Track, ANY Race Track.
This is a sign I saw in a Machine Shop: "A Machine Shop is no better than it's worst employee". Sooner or later that employee will $crew up your job. Bob |

Makes you wonder when you hear about tracks barely surviving doesn't it? Unless thy're trying to 'steal" racers from other tracks or attract first time racers what strategy do they have to get past barely surviving?

mixed bag at PBIR. Many great workers that want to make sure you have a good time. If they could only hang on to an experenced track manager long enough to get some neat stuff going I'm sure it would be the best in the SE. The race track surface itself is 2nd to none
