What do you think about a champion's friends and family giving you rounds to win a championship..

The second place man and everyone behind him, they are the TRUE champions. They earned there rounds honestly and still have the respect of there racing friends and family.

WELL, the best way to nip that qwap in the bud,,,,,is to ladder everyone AFTER 1st round by best rt.
We here in norcal have had to do that just for that reason.
It's good to have FRIENDS at the track, been on BOTH ends of said scenario. Does'nt bother me.

Cant ladder after first round due to 2 rounds of buybacks. But what you could do is at the last 4 points races of the year or even all year is take the top 16 in points and put them in lanes 1-2. Then call the rest of the field to 3-4. If these guys buy back they go back to 1-2 until there is one man left. Stupid idea but will stop any games. I remember IHRA doing this back in the 80's the last 4 pro am races. This was before they laddered at those races.

I seen it myself. I guess if you get in 1 lane and 3 people who are giving you the round go the other you will make rounds. I think we know who the real champ was. Congrats to Dave

I dont understand, every year at this time we get all these allegations from certain "areas"

Whats so difficult of the concept of random lane/pairings?

It will not eliminate it, but will make it much more difficult.

Once again, I don't have a dog in this fight, but I will state my opinion anyway. If a man does this he doesn't have the confidence in his ability to do it on his own. So in reality, he is stunned at being in the front to begin with. He really doesn't know how he got there, and really don't have a clue what to do while he is up there. So insted of actually racing his way to the Championship, he decides to guarantee his way to the Championship by "asking" for help.

We was sitting around the trailer Saturday talking about "gifted" rounds and a few names came up about folks that have accepted "gifted" rounds in order to win "their" (and I use that term loosely) Championship. A man will lose alot of respect from his fellow racers for doing stuff like that.

I never spoke to this man in my life, and I actually had to ask what car he drove to identify him also. He might have won the Championship regardless, he could have won both of the last 2 races and took that Championship home with his head held high, but we will never know. I would imagaine that it will bother him at some point in his life and he'll wonder deep down what would have happened had he raced it out and let the chips fall where they may.

With all that being said, homey is going to have a huge target on his back when it's time to start racing in 2010 and if he couldn't handle the idea of racing his way to a Championship in '09, it's going to be even tougher to stay at the top.

"The Crank" signing off-Think I'll dabble in the foot feeding class a little bit next year. Wink

hank well said,he has to live with this and with the racers at every track that knows this.i had great thoughts to his doings up to the last 2 races.i watched the set ups he made for himself and this is one on one any way u look at it.take the farm championship and do watt u will.my 3 footbrake championships where well worked for against the macys, spaughs.and my best friend and competitor paul shell and that was my most favorite one and will be always chatted together at every track we go to because it was funn.the bracket finals will be fun for most and team crane will see thier respectfull championship seem worthless..my 2cents and 3 time champ well earned

i dont personally know the guy, or know any of his buddies. I seen he pulled into the lanes late and being he pulled in so late i dont see how he could have possibly known who he was going to be racing, especially since everyone piled into the right lane and they had to pull lefties out.

I also watched robert benge, i think it was junior. but benge redlighted to him in rd 3 i think and SURELY benge would not give someone a round. i am pretty sure of that ....

I agree. Luck is great to have as a dragracer! Believe me, getting my head beat in by you and Indian Outlaw everyweek made me determined to become a better racer and it has definately helped. Is Sonya racing tomorrow or are you?

my bad... didnt know that car that redlighted to him was his cousin.

Oh well, it would have been nice to win the championship i am sure. But Spaugh doesnt need a track championship for everyone to know he is a great racer ... sorry it happened the way it did but u still da man.

i think they should do a best 2 out of 3 runoff. Since everyone really thinks he is guilty of what u say .... Maybe friday night. Make 2 time runs and they go 2 out of 3. Let him keep the money, but the winner get the title and the gold card.

Probably will never happen, but if i was in his position and wanted to save face .. i would do it.
