My point was; I’ve done this since 72. I’ve raced in 108 temps at Redding. I was younger. I’ve raced in 108 plus at Sacramento raceway and finals @ 1-2 and 3 AM.
The facts are I have learned and even though my brain says no problem… My body says; you’re an idiot! If you think you can hang with the youngsters in the heat, you are mistaken. I am 66 and I can hold my own. But not like the kids can… You get humidity back there and we don’t normally see that but it’s a dry heat right? Heat is heat, it takes a toll on everyone.

Do not let little man bother you. I really do not care much about what he says. He is a Loser and lives in his own little dream world. Are you impressed with anything he has done? I am not.

It is like those guys who claim they are a woman and can get pregnant. They can have their own little dream but I do not have to play along.

Let him go on thinking what ever he wants. He can pretend he is 6'4" tall, he can pretend he is a winner, he can think what ever he wants, he is free to do so but you do not have to pretend along with him. Some do play along with him just to let him make a bigger fool of himself.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

So out of curiosity, what has the temps been lately around the northeast tracks? I'm betting they aren't reaching 107°-108° and heat indexes of 110°-115°.

This is the OP’s question and statement, nor where does he ask about a specific region nor temp.

Heartland Park, SRCA,and Atco to name a few.

So again, STFU and race or don’t because those that are no mind those that are WINNING don’t care what your excuse is for not showing up!

Atco has guaranteed the purse for Super Pro this season - I assume the owner understandably didn't want to risk losing his shirt thanks to a low turnout due to the temps so he scrubbed the whole day. I guess that's an unintended consequence of the guaranteed purse.

I think Curly hit on the major factors closing/cancelling because of whatever reason(s). Regardless, the only thing you can do is find somewhere else to race for the weekend or not race.

Good Morning ED! What are your excuses for being the #1 Forum B1tch/LOSER & QUITTER? Oh man, the answer is in the ?

I know this, it is much more enjoyable to race in nice weather vs 3 digit temps,,, but no matter how you slice it up, no track on the planet can make money with the doors closed! During the hot months, there is no reason the regular racing schedule can't be adjusted so racing starts mid afternoon, ya it's the hottest then but you are only in that heat for a few hours vs all day if you start at 9 AM! This obviously won't work for big money large car counts races, for those the show must go on!

ED can't stand the excessive heat. Wink

"Narcissists don't just want to be admired; they expect to be admired. Compliments don't just make them feel good. They also fuel them. If a narcissist isn't being showered with praise, they can become agitated. Their existence is implied to be some sort of immaculate gift others must recognize.

Conversely, their need for admiration means they will reject criticism outright. Narcissists are incredibly concerned with their self-image, but they won't accept any kind of advice. Bitter feelings grow larger until they consume the narcissist entirely. To a narcissist, they are not the ones who need to change, but the rest of the world is."

Holy crap , that is a perfect description of another person I know. It's been impossible to get along with him.

Foot note:
Gee I hope that "him" is the correct pronoun, don't want to offend the Woke tribe.

Good Morning ED, how's the heat back East?

"To give narcissists some credit, they're excellent dramatists, and they can turn the most mundane details of their lives into the most outrageous, unbelievable stories. These are often too good to be true, because they're actually lies. Their need to impress causes narcissists to stretch the truth or omit facts to fit their narrative better. It's a defense mechanism that makes it difficult for narcissists to form trustworthy relationships. Real friends don't judge you based on your failures, but narcissists will think their self-worth is determined by their ability to recount successes. It can work for them too, until they get caught in a lie and have to explain themselves. The more narcissists exaggerate their life, the weaker the grasp they have on reality is."

This don't work at every track. A lot of tracks have curfews now. So if they start late they can't get the race finished.

Local track has a problem of not being able to make the track work until the sun goes down Plus they're competing with Bristol. They won't start sometimes until 7 to 9 PM hoping for the track to work and people that go out early at Bristol to show up. Finish way too late for me and takes the family out of it. Running Jr.'s after midnight not the best. Ruins your Sunday also.

I see the heat issues in a different way. All us racers can get out of the heat in our toterhomes, motorhomes and trailers. The real issue is the track staff that work long hours with no where to hide. I'd say the well being of the staff is just as big of factor to cancel as anything else.

I mentioned running later during the hottest months at Piedmont. I was reminded of curfew, which has been in effect for I know 40 plus years. I know this oh too well. We use to own land next to track and had turkey shoot because they voted down the motorcycle track dad wanted to put in.

There is a reason some tracks can not adjust the schedule so racing can go one during less heat intence times.

I disagree, they applied for and accepted the job knowing full well it requires long days and nights in hot, sunny, humid weather as well labor intensive work to scrap/prep the track along with the occasional cleanup from an oil down/fluid spill.
