Dad & I had our annual bannana splits for our birthday today. They were great as usual! I only have one week left here, going to keep making the best of it. Going on 6 months of early retirement, still only regret was not doing it a couple years earlier! Since retirement I've been meeting up with a group of friends at our local very small Casino for food, drinks & fellowship on Wed. evenings. After being gone for 5 weeks it was good to see all especially one couple. She was so happy that she had early retired a couple weeks ago. While she was always a happy person before retirement. There's just that extra happiness that was beaming last night. Now, her husband is early retiring in a couple weeks. He's happy, but said he's a little nervous. I'm sure he will be fine & was happy to be buying his 1st new vehicle in his life. I'm not much for Fords, but a F450 King Ranch Super Duty sounds pretty nice. The plan was always to retire at 62 & maybe an early retirement at 60 as a nicety. The opportunity presented itself at 59 & I took it. Son in law just picked up a 2019 F350 dueally diesel (Loaded ) and i mean loaded with 90K on the dial. One owner. for 57K. Saw the invoice. The guy he bought it off of just went out and purchased 2 brand new duallys cash. He figured better to sell it to an individual instead of the stealership | |||

Hope you are happy with the 3500. I had an 18 Denali 3500 that I liked well enough except some short comings it had like turning radius. But the boss lady didn't like a few things. So we went back to the tried and true F450 again. Cant say I am disappointed in doing so. plus I made a pretty decent sum on the Denali. 6 months in & it gets better every day! The new truck drives great, but has way too many bells & whistles. I need to put about 350 more miles on it, then I can hook up to the not fit for a skid loader trailer. Then take my junk to the track next weekend! Yes it is, about 1/2 the distance in an F450 tan other 350 or either Dodge or Chevy 3500's. In this town its handy to be able to make a u turn at an intersection as seems in the newer parts of the city its the only way to get around sometimes  Also the smaller parking lots I have no issue just pulling in to park, to 5 point turn required just to park Lastly resale on all my Fords has been great compared to the two Dodges and one Chevy I have had over the last 30 years. The last couple F450's I have basically lost about 15-20% on the last two. Both were between 150-200K and 7-9 years old. Last one was exactly 9 years old and got $49K for it and paid $59K for it new. I did make money on the Denali but only because it was purchased during covid and from a local farmer who used it only to pull his 5th wheel to camp. He was getting to old and only used it a few times. Garage kept its whole life and it was CHEAP. I sold it during the shortage of one ton trucks because I found a deal on the current F450 at a small town rural dealership in Ohio. So I sold the Denali and pocketed $22K. FWIW we also have a 2006.5 Cummins Dodge that we will likely never sell. It has 459K on it and we were just offered 19K for it....Crazy these days. Thanks for the information, Al! Until now, we've been using my buddies under 60K mile 2004 Dodge dually. It's a night & day difference between the trucks. We have 430 miles on the new one & can't wait to tow with it. As far as the city, we moved out away from that. This truck will be mainly used for towing & very little else.This message has been edited. I was going to work until 65 but after 42 years in manufacturing mostly in engineering I got tired of the new MBA millenials being made managers despite having no clue how to cut, weld, grind, mill, turn, paint, plate, assemble or test new products. I put in for my SS starting April 2020 at age 63, and then the shop I was at closed up in March by order of the King of Ohio. I don't have a million in my 401K so I had to decide to change my lifestyle to fit my income. I don't travel anymore, I only race my footbrake car a few times a year at local tracks. The last vehicle I bought was a 2018 Focus that I didn't need anymore so I gave it to my son. I don't do side work unless it's a family member and I do it for free. I'm single and don't have anyone telling me how to spend my money, I have a monthly budget and have only blown it a couple times, needed new washing machine last summer. It's been 2-1/2 years and I wouldn't go back for any amount of salary. | |||
