Retired at 64, I'm 71 now. Would have to be starving to go back to work. I hope to make it as long as Fern, I certainly don't miss the rotating shift work. I do miss some of the people at the refinery but I get to sleep at night now and that's great. Enjoy your retirement Mr. King!

Lets see...
Coffee between 6-7 am
Me and the dog go out.
Some "minor honey do list"
Watch a little tube..
Might go to the shop play mechanic again.
Oh da**, it"s lunch time!!!!

30 plus years of working out on the road on semi's.

NO PHONE CALLS>>> priceless

Enjoy your retirement. Every day counts.

Retirement is another word for job tile change.
Like I said, I’ve never been so busy.
Racing, honey doos, racing , fishing , racing honey doo then there’s engines, dyno, trailers and trucks…
I still would not go back to work.

I installed a new garage door this morning, does that count as work? I also jacked the race car up last night, I think, getting ready to take out the trans & converter. Life is rough.

Fern, you stay busier than a one legged man on a unicycle! Not worthy

Saw a few retire, sit on the porch, then get covered with dirt. I'll keep going as long as the man up stairs will let me. Its just a different kind of work. I also helped someone move last week, Friday I think. That was a story in its self.

I put in 1100+ miles yesterday & was totally exhausted. The good thing is only 800 to put in today.

In the last two years I have found the definition of retirement to mean "working for free". I have become a ground medical transport driver, door dash, and uber for family and neighbors, neighborhood and family handyman, (all pro bono), in the midst of all that, I have to find time to do housework and yard work and the most important, the wifes honey-do-list.

And best of all, everyone here encourages me. My racing family gives me the motivation to carry on. I once told someone that when I left the mountain I didn't even have any shoes and when I came back I bought the mountain. Been a lot of bumps in the road but so far I have been able to carry on. Thanks to all of you. Now, that transmission is waiting!

Thanks for the few kind words & text. The last 800 miles today was rough. Made it to dad's safely. I was tired & went straight to work, LOL! Then he let me know his laundry list of things to get done while I'm here. Again... LOL, but looking forward to the hard work. Manual labor has always been relaxing for me.

I'm not wishing time away, but I can't wait to join your ranks, sooner the better. I've been diligent in my 401K savings, my only debt is my mortgage, know how to keep my spending under control, and have a plan to mix volunteer work with some basic job for a few bucks and to keep busy, along with getting to as many cool places to hike in the US, and some bucket list places.

Keep the plan in place & get more aggressive with your 401k. In hindsight, I could have retired 2 years earlier at 57 1/2. That was when my wife gave me the green light. Oh well, I'm making the best out of a later early retirement.

Me too, I haven't had time to even try! We aren't even sure if any fish are left. It's been 5 or 6 years since I fished it, but have pulled some 6 pounders out of there.

This broke dyck pos who’s boosting about “early retirement” and claims he’s financially set, has nothing but junk for a race car and trailer Laughing very hard which hasn’t been in competition for 2 years because he doesn’t have the money to rebuild it and last year he custom orders the trailer of his dreams for 30 years and backs out of the deal within days of it being delivered to the dealer again because he didn’t have the money and dream trailer 2.0 still hasn’t been ordered and never will be! You can’t make this shyt up, only on an Internet message board. Meanwhile…

Hell when they hand free money to illegals who waltz across the border, that money enriches the lives of others. Why do you think they do it? It's not only for votes. It's helicopter money trickle down economic money creation..

I’ll message him thanks. Salmon this weekend outside the gate. Then I’ll go after Stripers, Halibut and Sturgeon.

You and Canted cannot complain. If you had followed you’d know why he retired early. What he did is smart and by the book and 110% legal. . Don’t complain cause you couldn’t do it. Posting your bs shows your ankle high class. I have spent time with him. He’s a great guy, not lazy , great racer and a great friend. Pretty easy to spew bs here but when you don’t know the facts, it makes you like like a Jack azz! Imagine that!

Good luck this weekend. I hope your son does well.
