“Hottest Year Ever? 2016 Burns Through Heat Records, NASA Says”

“NASA's data showed that each month in 2016 was the warmest respective month globally in the modern temperature record, which dates to 1880. This trend suggests 2016 will surpass 2015 as the hottest year on record, NASA said.”

Who could have guessed?

Well not many around here for sure. Given that most are having great difficulties figuring out the differences between Trump and Cruz, which for most normal people is about like the differences between shyt and krap, so I don’t suppose I should be too surprised.

7 of the past 10 years has seen record wheat crops in Oklahoma and throughout the WORLD! Thereby depressing the price of a bushel of wheat. Corn is in the same situation, production out pacing demand. Reality trumps projected computer model graphs and charts. Stated another way, Larry, you are a mental masturbater! Give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy your illusion of superior higher moral ground. Not everyone is so easily duped.

Well you know what I think; you might just be full of shyt in that first sentence. So would you care to provide a link to the source(s) of data to support the statement?

So in the 2014 winter wheat season in OK about 5,300,000 acres were planted and about 2,800,000 harvested at a yield of 17 bushels per acre, total units 47,600,000 at a price of $6.45/Bu., is that what you call a record? Slightly more than 52% of planted acreage is harvestable, what’s that all about I wonder?

Historically Planted Harvested Yield Bu./acre Price/Bu. P/Hratio
1985 7,800,000 5,500,000 30 $2.91 70.5%
1990 7,400,000 6,200,000 32 $2.57 83.7%
1995 6,800,000 5,200,000 21 $4.41 76.4%
2000 6,100,000 4,200,000 34 $2.57 68.8%
2005 5,700,000 4,000,000 32 $3.39 70.1%
2010 5,200,000 3,800,000 31 $5.06 73.0%
2011 5,100,000 3,200,000 23 $7.05 62.7%
2012 5,400,000 4,300,000 36 $7.45 79.6%
2013 5,600,000 3,400,000 31 $6.99 60.7%
2014 5,300,000 2,800,000 17 $6.45 52.8%

That does not sound anything like records to me, unless you mean the exceedingly poor yield of 2014.

“Wheat production in 2014 was down 55 percent from the previous year. An average yield of 17.0 bushels per acre was harvested from 2.80 million acres producing 47.6 million bushels.”

Then there is the more or less downward trend in how much planted crop makes it to harvest over the last 3 decades, I wonder what that could be all about?

Here is where my data comes from:

https://www.nass.usda.gov/Stat...ok_bulletin_2015.pdf

Then there is this: From the Farm Journal (yeah they’re all deluded dupes too I suppose?)

As Temperatures Rise, Wheat Production Falls

By tracking global climate change, researchers can spot trends in the agriculture industry. The latest discovery – for every degree Celsius (about 1.8 °F) that temperatures increase, the world loses about 6% of its wheat crop. University of Florida professor of agriculture and biological engineering Senthold Asseng, determined these findings through computer modeling.

http://www.agweb.com/article/a...alls-naa-ben-potter/

Then World Wide we have:

So it appears the forecast (all wheat not just OK winter wheat) for the US is up 3% for 2015, damn who would have guess with the p1ss poor results last year, I guess that falls under the adage there is no place to go but up particularly when you find yourself at the bottom of a hole. Worldwide forecast is down 1%.

Seems like your “reality” is more of that “Faith based” reality many seem to be banging on about, as in the faith or the belief in something for which there is no demonstrable proof, but in this case there actually seems to be demonstrable data to prove the opposite of your statements being true.

Oh, I don’t hold the “superior higher moral ground” whatever the fark you think that means in this context, as for me I suspect that is just you bumping your gums. Then, while my spelling skills are notoriously poor and I suppose that I shouldn’t point it out, none the less it’s I am a mental masturbator <-[or), not a “masturbater”<- [er). Where is our resident spell checker Mr. Kosky when you really need him? Off trying to define the difference between shyt and krap, as in the cases of Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz I suppose.

Finely, yes some of us are less easily duped than others, that is precisely why I post here periodically, in the likely fruitless hope that some of the obviously duped or simple minded and/or ignorant persons who find kindred mentalities here, might be at the very least exposed to some of the realities from outside this little echo chamber.

Larry, I hesitate to offer this, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to process it, but you ask. It's not charts &/or graphs or even federal govt. numbers. In fact it's real people speaking (you know, where they can be held accountable (GASP!)). Be sure to watch it til the end.

So OK thanks for the link to where you are getting your information.

Now please go back and listen to what Dr. Anderson, an agribusiness marketing specialist not a meteorologist by the way said, he said “WORLD” wheat, not Oklahoma wheat, did he not? Go listen to Dr. Anderson at right around 55 sec into his interview, he says “record WORLD wheat production” he said nothing about Oklahoma wheat, did he? Saying Oklahoma had record wheat production was and is my primary complaint with your statement, and therefore the reason I called bu11sh1t on it.

You said, and I quote, “7 of the past “10” years has seen record wheat crops in “OKLAHOMA” and throughout the WORLD!”, so it appears you have misspoken. Possibly you didn’t pay close enough attention to what Dr. Anderson said or maybe chose to embellish your statement for the reason of trying to make a point by conflating Oklahoma and world wheat production, just sounds better your way doesn’t it, be that as it may. The hard fact remains that Oklahoma did not produce record wheat crops in the last 7 of 9 years (the actual span Dr. Anderson stated not the 7 of 10 in your misquote), which is what I pointed out. So yes indeed this is me holding you, “a real person” accountable for what you say. Oh by the way just where the HE!! do you think Dr. Anderson came up with that “last 7 out of 9 years” statement, oh that’s right he consulted all them nasty, “charts &/or graphs” produced by the “federal govt numbers”, HE!! who knows he likely had a hand in producing them nasty “charts &/or graphs”, you don’t really think he, like you sometimes seem to do, pulled it all straight out his anal archive, do you.

All of that aside, even if I grant you that there was record world wheat production, either due to increased acres planted or “relatively good weather now” per Dr. Anderson, weather is localized and short term, climate change is long term over large areas, none of that in any way shape or form invalidates the fact that the first 6 months of this year have been the hottest on record in 136 years, period!

You just don’t get to imply climate change isn’t real or is a hoax, simply on the basis of record wheat production; there are way too many confounding factors to make that leap. The world as a whole simply plants 50 or 100 million more acres and world production goes up 1%, not exactly awe inspiring or a reason to say Anthropomorphic Global Warming (AGW) is a not reality. Who knows, maybe some farmers, can now plant wheat in places that formally could not support the growth of wheat, why, because growth zones have moved further north, or rain patterns have changed, or that other places are going out of production for the same reasons, due to AGW. That again does not say anything about AGW being a reality; at best it says more about the world as a whole making the best of a changing/bad situation.

So, get back with me when you find some actual consistently reproducible long term temperature data that disagrees with the massively documented and blindingly obvious fact that the world is getting warmer, really fast.

You know what Dave I don’t really care what you think of me.

So Dave, doesn’t seem to me you are making any attempt to say anything at all on topic for this thread, at the very least I try to, yes I do find it a bit difficult to refrain from name calling, but in my defense that is more or less the norm in this little bubble. Then again if the shoe fits ware it, sorry if many around here seem to very nearly fit the definition for being ignorant or stupid, bigoted, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, sexist and more I am sure, sometimes the truth can be a bit uncomfortable can't it.

So Dave, you know what? I think I’ll just keep on saying, what I want, where I want, when I want, at least until the moderator of this little bubble specifically tells me directly, otherwise. Given that in the last oh 9 years or so of posting in this particular thread and give or take 17 years on this particular site, no moderator has said boo to me about anything that I have posted, here in this thread or anywhere else on this site, I don’t expect that to change time soon.

So don't like what I say or how I say it, have at it or not, suite yourself.

It has been just over three years since President Obama announced his extensive climate change agenda, called the Climate Action Plan.

The plan was his answer to Congress' failure to pass comprehensive climate legislation, after action stalled in the Senate during his first term. Instead of relying on Congress, with its increased Republican opposition, Obama decided to enact regulations using his executive authority to meet his climate goals.

The 7 most expensive regs in Obama's climate plan

“Trump’s Stance on the Paris Climate Agreement is Criticized by 375 Scientists”

“Yesterday, 375 members of the National Academy of Sciences, including 30 Nobel Prize winners, posted an open letter reviewing the basics of established climate science, decrying claims of hoax and hype spouted by Republicans during the presidential campaign and warning against the United States pulling out of the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Although it did not name him, the letter was aimed squarely at Donald J. Trump. Trump has said he would “cancel” the climate deal if elected and starkly flip-flopped in his campaign from a past stance calling for such action.”
