For the more than 10 million Americans who are out of work, finding a job is hard. For the 145 million or so who are employed, getting a raise is even harder.

The government said on Friday that employers added 113,000 jobs in January, the second straight month of anemic growth, despite some signs of strength in the broader economy. The unemployment rate inched down in January to 6.6 percent, the lowest level since October 2008, from 6.7 percent in December.

But the report also made plain what many Americans feel in their bones: Wages are stuck, and barely rose at all in 2013. They were up 1.9 percent last year, or a mere 0.4 percent after accounting for inflation. Not only was that increase even smaller than the one recorded in 2012, it was half the normal rate of wage gains in the two decades before the last recession.

Not Just Hiring

We're all aware the unemployment rate is about as inaccurate a description as there is. More correctly it's the lay-off rate.

The sole reason the unemployment rate is shrinking is because more and more people are dropping out of the work force as they give up looking for a job and go on government welfare or disabilty!!!!!
93,000,000 of them now, the lowest labor participation rate since the "grest depression"!!!!!

Got an E-mail supposedly from our bank with the logo and the stagecoach on it saying due to multiple erroneous attempts to log on to our on line account they have frozen it to protect us.
The first giveaway was grammar mistakes like a foreigner would make with English, of course duped boobs would never catch them, and then they asked to click on this line and provide the correct info!

A few years ago, we sold all of the race parts off and hadn't had time to close the business account. We always check our accounts at least once a day. One day I noticed the m/s account got "hit!" So I called the bank and someone in India tried to use it. They bought clothes, shoes and when they tried for a cell phone, they got denied! We did get all of the money back. However, one can never be to careful.

Pentagon Plans to Shrink Army to Pre-World War II Level
WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel plans to shrink the United States Army to its smallest force since before the World War II buildup and eliminate an entire class of Air Force attack jets in a new spending proposal that officials describe as the first Pentagon budget to aggressively push the military off the war footing adopted after the terror attacks of 2001.
The New York Times

Pentagon Set to Slash Military to Pre-World War II Levels
Firing the opening salvo in a bloody budget battle, U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel recommended drastic cuts of billions of dollars that would take American military forces to its lowest level since before World War II.

The cuts in military spending, forces and weapons programs address the stark reality of growing budget pressures at home while pointing to the improbability that the United States will engage in a large ground war.

John Kerry warns of consequences for Russia after Ukraine invasion

Secretary of State John Kerry warned Russia Sunday that it should rethink its military intervention in Ukraine, warning of possible economic consequences and embarrassment on the world stage.

Tensions flared over the weekend as Russian President Vladimir Putin sought and received permission from his parliament Saturday to use military force to protect Russian citizens in Ukraine. Troops have already stationed themselves in Crimea, a Black Sea peninsula that is home to one of Moscow's naval bases.
Kerry planned to travel to Ukraine on Monday.

PUTIN FIRES WARNING SHOTS AT WEST
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia said it had successfully test-fired an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) on Tuesday, with tensions running high over its military intervention in Ukraine's Crimea region.

A U.S. official said the United States had received proper notification from Russia ahead of the test and that the initial notification pre-dated the crisis in Crimea. The Russian Defence Ministry could not be reached for comment.

US moves on several fronts to counter Russia, Obama decries proposed Crimea split
The Obama administration moved Thursday on several fronts to counter Russia's aggression in Ukraine's Crimea, sending fighter jets to allied countries, imposing visa restrictions on Russians and strongly decrying a planned referendum in Crimea to split from Ukraine and join Russia.

"We are well beyond the days when borders can be redrawn over the heads of democratic leaders," Obama said Thursday at the White House.

Obama was reacting to a vote in Crimea to join Russia -- which is scheduled for a referendum in 10 days. Obama, echoed by the State Department, said this move would "violate the Ukrainian Constitution and violate international law."

The president said there is still a path to resolve the crisis, and urged Russia to let international monitors into Ukraine as part of that. But, referring to a boosted U.S. military presence among NATO partners, Obama said the U.S. is taking steps "to reaffirm our commitment to the security and democracy of our allies in Eastern Europe."
