Hoosier 1500 vs 1550
Running into grab new tires today, my local place has a good sale going on. What’s the difference between the 1500 and the new 1550, they have both on stock same price. Happy with the 1500, not sure what they updated (if anything).

From what I understand the compound is different. I haven't heard anything bad about them, all been good. Some say it is a few hun quicker than the 1500

Today I ordered my C1550. Looking forward to giving them a try. Bad part is I now need to buy smaller Bead locks. Such is life.

What size do you have now? They mount on 16x16 wheels

I just tested some 1550's a couple weeks ago, and I'm very happy with them. They were very smooth on the burnout, and worked perfect for my 4 passes. All 4 passes were 1.00X 60'. I run them on 16x16 wheels.

Your gonna like them!

Mark Yeager, What tire were you on before going to the 1550's?, did you use same air pressure on the 1550 that you used on previous tire?. Just curios if your setup had to change when going to the 1550. Thanks in advance.

Mark, what times are you running and tire pressure? I have my 1550 mounted and ready but the first passes are going to be Fling Vegas.

well we only go .970-.975 , but we've had to stay with the Mickeys to do it so far .. but with Goodyear buying M/T , the future may be uncertain ....I've NEVER had any luck with Hoosiers in the past ......but ....

I am generally in the high .970 to mid .980 range. That is on a blown suspended car. I have 22 runs on the c1500 and have yet to shake the tires

Hey Guys, sorry for the delay in responding. I’m Racing at the D7 race in Vegas. I’m running 4.4 lbs. 1.01 60’ here in Vegas. Running 6.50, in a nitrous car. We just put a set in my buddys pro charged car, and he went .998 tonight.

I ran 1500s for a season and had some tire shake episodes. Then I went down the rabbit hole and tried a few other compounds and some experimentals until these 1550s came out. I had to pull timing with all the other compounds, but with the 1550s I’m not pulling any. I’m also only leaving at 4400, and my wheel speed is fairly low. I’m going to turn the wick up at the next race and let them work. I ran my 1500s at 4.0 and my 1550’s at 4.4

The 1550's are as good as advertised. No rattle, smooth as silk going down the track and held air. I put 10 lbs at home in WA and had 10.4 in them when I got to Vegas Fling. Now if I had not drove like a donkey, I may have been able to do them justice....

Tony, glad to see they worked good for you
