Full Event Flyer Coming Soon!
Officials at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, today announced the addition of the new Midwest SuperStar Bracket Series to its 2020 track schedule. The series, which will pay $10,000 to the winner of each day’s bracket event, will consist of six races over two weekends. The first event will be held April 17-19, 2020, in conjunction with the NHRA Division 3 JEGS Super Quick Series. A second event is scheduled for June 12-14, 2020.
Each of the two event weekends will feature early parking on Thursday evening and complete days of racing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The SuperStar series will consist of one bracket class with door cars and bikes racing each other and dragsters racing dragsters as late as possible through the program. Multiple entries will be permitted and a color-coded punch card system will be used. Buy-backs will be offered in the first or second round if there are less than 170 entries. If there are 170-299 entries, only first-round buy-backs will be offered. If there are more than 300 entries, no buy-backs will be offered. All races will be contested as 1/8-mile. Super Pro ET limits for 1/8-mile racing: 3.66 seconds to 7.75 seconds.
“The April weekend will be run in conjunction with the JEGS Super Quick Series which, if a racer competes in both days of that event, provides the opportunity for a driver or rider to compete in five events in one weekend,” Blair added. “We are in discussions regarding a higher-payout Friday and Saturday night bonus race to run in conjunction with the June event.”This message has been edited. VP Racing Fuels has been named the official presenting sponsor of the Midwest SuperStar Bracket Series and will join JEGS.com and MAHLE Motorsport as official contingency sponsors for the series. The six-race series, which will be contested over two weekends at WWTR’s drag strip in Madison, Illinois, will pay $10,000 to win (guaranteed) and offer bonus awards at each race. In addition, a series points fund will be distributed to the top five racers in the point standings.
“The commitment from solid brands such as VP, JEGS and MAHLE is a great start for this new program,” said World Wide Technology Raceway Executive Vice President and General Manager Chris Blair. “We want to firmly establish the Midwest SuperStar program as the working class racer’s special event program where every racers feels they have a chance to win great cash and prizes without extensive travel — and without blowing their entire racing budget on entry fees.”
Thanks to contingency sponsor commitments, each race winner will receive a $200 product award. Each race’s runner-up will receive a $50 product award. Upon completion of the two race weekends, the top five racers in championship points will receive $1,500 in product awards from each sponsor – distributed as $750 for first, $300 for second, $200 for third, $150 for fourth and $100 for fifth. Cash awards will be paid with $1,000 to the champion, $500 for second place, $350 for third, $250 for fourth and $200 for fifth. Based on the current program — with more sponsors in discussion — the champion will receive $1,000 cash and $2,250 in product awards for only a two weekend commitment.
Each Midwest SuperStar Bracket Series event will pay a guaranteed $10,000 to win, $2,000 for second, $750 for semis, $300 for quarter-finals, $200 for eighths (and 1/16th and 1/32nd rounds will be paid based on overall car count). Racers are allowed multiple entries, with $150 for the first entry, with a second entry for only $125. Only one full ET class will be contested at each event and all races are 1/8th-mile.
“The primary focus of each race is to have fun and win great prizes,” continued Blair. “In addition to the posted awards, our team is developing a new championship trophy for this series and it will be something a racer proudly can display as an exceptional statement piece in the trophy case. They will be able to point to that trophy and proudly state they beat the best in the Midwest.”
The first Midwest SuperStar Bracket Series event weekend will take place on April 17-19 in conjunction with the NHRA Division 3 JEGS Super Quick Series season opener. A special Jr. Dragster event will be included in the program.
The second, and final, series event weekend will take place on June 12-14. In addition to the series, a special door car-and-dragster special will be contested on Friday and Saturday night.
