Our Div finals at Darlington was this weekend. In the middle of the year they changed to No Box but no one at our track converted. We took 25 foot brakers to the finals and 21 of them won the 1st round---at 8 cars we had 5 still in, at 3 cars they were all our footbrakers. When it was all said and done our footbrake cars had won the division in no-box + 2 of the Gamblers races. Don't need no stinkin buttons round here No No

congraulations to you guys, i am totaly against t-brakes or boxes in footbrake. i think if you need a button or box to get a good reaction time then go all the way to super pro. to me footbrake is just what it sounds like, racing fast without all the added money.

W451---Yes we did---by about 20 rounds. #2 was Immokalee. We didn't have much of a top team. No one around here can afford it Hum

Must not have had a strong crop of transbrake racers...come on up North and get you some...lol

Come on guys...it dont matter if you use a button or swap feet...you're still crackin the same bulb... Banging Head

It doesn;t make much of a difference to me as long as it doesn't involve a box!

Congrates to the Pageland team. They did a great job. Big Grin

My kid and I were both running footbrake at finals for IRR. The track champ at IRR ran footbrake the entire year. Smile

slick rick, that may be so,i guess its the princible of it. but its the little changes that start, then later on they will allow boxes and so on. sure if you race it costs money, but footbrake did not cst as much as super pro, because of t-brakes an boxes. still my thoughts are if you want to run that stuff go ahead an step up an run super pro. leave footbrake to those who love the old style of drag racing THE WAY IT OUGHT TO BE! an dont have a ton money to us. lol

Slick is good off the foot also--but ol fern won in Ohio off of the foot. Don't seem to make much difference does it???? But the cost would prohibit some from ever starting to race and we need some new blood so I can win a round now and then....... Big Grin

Just messin with you guys...and I think Fern just called me out on it... Busted

I LOVE footbrake racing! I run a T-brake up here because it is allowed and you can fine tune your leave easier and with much less effort than you can off the foot. I really do NOT think there is an advantage to either style, a good driver can go either way.

Dang it, I was hoping for more than two replies back...can you tell I was bored yesterday...

See you guys in November!

yea , i think ferndale is right. the cost will make the diff. slick rick may also be right, but if i come up to the line an i know i am going against a t-brake then my mindset is changed to a disadvantage. but its just the pricible of the thing, its a footbrake class. some say change will not hurt but i used to live an breath nascar, but here came change and i an a lot more dont watch or care anymore. change does hurt!

If there is no advantage to a brake then why use it? We've all seen the adjustable buttons out there.

I dont usually weigh in on these subjucts, but i feel i am qualified on this subject since i have competed in 3 differant style race cars , doorslammer, altered and dragster and won races footbraking, transbrake on the bottom bulb and transbrake top bulb.Everything else aside a trans brake on the bottom is an absolut howl!Fun Factor High! He hear so many against the brake that have never tried it. The old bracket racing theme was "RUN WHATCA BRUNG" I will be happy when my car starts and i have a lane to race down...so alittle whinning

Apparently the IHRA is different than the NHRA?...in the NHRA there are three classes...Super Pro with full electronics, Pro with no electronics except for t-brake and 2-3 step and Sportsman which is a no electronics at all/footbrake class...

Am I to understand there is no Sportsman or equivlant class in the IHRA?...

Every Division is different. Sadly, there are a large number of tracks that do not have an entry-level class, particularly down south.

The advantage is only in your head. I have compared over 400 runs that I have made with either a button or off the foot and I see .005 difference on the average. I will say that there are alot more fliers off the foot.

As far as adjustable buttons...you're allowed to adjust your air pressure aren't you? Your footbraking launch RPM, the front end travel of your car, your timing? The button is no different than all those things except for the fact that it is easier to adjust.

If you can't hit the tree off the foot, putting a transbrake in your car will not make you superman!

So why do I prefer to race with a button?? I am lazy, I enjoy the hit of the transbrake when the car launches, and I can't foot feed leaving at 3800 RPM at those tracks where the rollout is as loose as some girls I used to know back in high school... Rolling

Hey, watch what you say about Pageland! No No I've left at 3800 off the foot there... (and still take a couple bumps!)
