Guys, would using finish line driving techniques, such as 'spot dropping' be considered cheating at some tracks?
Where you're basically expected to 'run it out the back door', no matter what?
I thought at one time at least that was considered cheating.
I've never heard anyone call it cheating and I certainly don't consider anything wrong with it. I would think anyone who did complain about it probably doesn't win many rounds. Take care. Tom Worthington
If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.
Sometimes, I might 'drop it' around the 1000ft area (1/4 mile racing). Years ago .. I was told by another racer, that I was 'sandbagging'. 'Sandbagging' to me, is like when you're the faster car .. and you dial close or the same as your slower opponent .. and catch him early, and ride beside them. 'Dropping' to me, is the same as dialing for an 'all out run' ... you're trying to "run what you dialed" ... and this is just the way that you set up to do that.
Whether you 'whomp', 'drop', 'drive your rpm's', 'ride the brakes', or whatever ...... you are just trying to have a 'better package' than your opponent.

I don't think I have ever been in this section before. I know this is old but I'm just catching up here.
I have heard it and have been told because I am carrying I am cheating. LOL I guess they will just have to keep accusing me because I'm not changing what I do.

Not cheating, it's another way of putting yourself in a different spot on the track than where your opponent expects you to be in an effort to influence them to make a bad decision. Like anything else, it is effective if not overused or else you will become predictable.

I've heard urban legends about 330' drops.
