Saturday April 30 Summit Super Series & Bower Hill Auto Body Nostalgia Iron Muscle Results

RJ’s Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 7-11 year old class:
W – Nathan Benish, 9.10 dial in, .0293 reaction time, 9.1184 elapsed time, 71.05mph
R/U – Addison Ickes, 12.12 dial in, .0908 reaction time, 12.0710 elapsed time, 51.89mph
Addison crosses the finish line first by .006, but breaks out, with Nathan’s .047 package locking her out.

RJ’s Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 12-17 year old class:
W – Kyle Penn, 7.67 dial in, .0404 RT, 7.6480 ET, 84.22mph
R/U – Samantha Gestner, 7.62 dial in, -.0116 RT, 7.6674 ET, 82.74
First time battle of Elite level licenses, Samantha leaves a tick too soon.

Z&M Cycles Motorcycle class:
W – James Hensell, 1100 Honda, 7.83 dial, .0200 RT, 7.9336 ET, 79.45mph
R/U – Byron McGarvey, ‘06 Kawasaki ZX14, 6.10 dial, .2818 RT, 6.2104 ET, 118.11mph
James was on the tree all day, Byron misses it, plenty of room for James to roll off the throttle and take the win.

B&R Speed Supply Sportsman class:
W – Jon Epstein, 2021 Challenger, 7.70 dial, .0862 RT, 7.7319 ET, 89.75mph
R/U – Bradley Knauff, Plymouth Volare, 7.77 dial, .0390 RT, 7.7521 ET, 85.00mph
Bradley with the reaction time advantage, takes about a car length at the stripe, but breaks it out to give Jon the win.

Bower Hill Auto Body Nostalgia Iron Muscle class:
W – Brian Donnelly, ‘74 Plymouth Duster, 10.70 dial in, .0324 RT, 10.6684 ET, 118.98mph
R/U – Kaleb Kelly, ‘67 Plymouth Barracuda, 10.00 dial in, .1326 RT, 9.9466 ET, 122.85mph
Brian with a tenth in his pocket off the line, gets the double breakout win by .021

Latrobe Auto Group Modified class:
W – Dave Dortenzo, ‘70 Nova SS, 6.36 dial, .0194 RT, 6.3674 RT, 107.02mph
R/U – Ron Boyce, Fox body Mustang notchback, 5.84 dial, -.0074 RT, 5.8809 ET, 112.79mph
Ron turns it just red, but multi time champ and hall of famer Dave would have locked him out with a .026 package.

Top Fuel Energy Services Top class:
W – Mark Brewer, ‘78 King Cobra Mustang II, 6.28 dial, .0283 RT, 6.2813 ET, 107.22mph
R/U – Chris Ickes, ‘75 Vega, 6.71 dial, .0343 RT, 6.7047 ET, 101.28mph
Chris gets the stripe by .0006, breaking it out to Mark’s .029 package. It’s a special win, coming the day after Mark’s dad’s heavenly birthday, bringing much celebration down in Big Brewer Lane.

Saturday May 14 Summit Super Series results, points day #2

RJ’s Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 7-11 year old class:

W – Nathan Benish, 9.05 dial in, .0080 reaction time, 9.0680 elapsed time, 70.58mph
R/U – Addison Ickes, 12.40 dial in, .1623 reaction time, 12.3637 elapsed time, 50.34mph
A replay of the first points day, and Nathan uses the great light to put a .026 package together for his second straight win.

RJ’s Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 12-17 year old class:
W – Sam Harvanek, 7.90 dial in, .0091 RT, 7.9818 ET, 78.73mph
R/U – Mallori Stewart, 8.10 dial in, .0737 RT, 8.1400 ET, 77.20
Sam uses the great light to pedal Mallori through the finish line by .02 and collect the win.

Z&M Cycles Motorcycle class:
W – Mike Mungai, ZX14, 5.85 dial, .0079 RT, 5.9086 ET, 108.91mph
R/U – Gary Garritano, ‘75 Kawasaki drag bike, 5.46 dial, .1259 RT, 5.4709 ET, 124.00mph
Two fast bikes, Mike leads it from start to finish with the great light and takes about a bike length in the W.

B&R Speed Supply Sportsman class:
W – Paul Covington, 2006 Charger, 8.65 dial, .1528 RT, 8.6967 ET, 82.75mph
R/U – Jon Epstein, 2021 Challenger, 7.82 dial, .1188 RT, 7.8121 ET, 89.55mph
Jon is in his second straight final, and has .034 in his pocket off of the starting line, but takes too much stripe, breaking out by .0079. This was Paul’s first time ever at a drag strip, and makes it count with the win!

Latrobe Auto Group Modified class:
W – Scotty Campbell, ’88 Camaro, 6.19 dial, .0101 RT, 6.2064 RT, 104.43mph
R/U – Mike Egan, ‘94 Mustang, 7.00 dial, .0143 RT, 7.0181 ET, 97.34mph
Classic Mustang versus Camaro match up, and a great race! .004 apart in reaction time, .0059 at the stripe to Scotty in the wheelstanding Camaro!

Top Fuel Energy Services Top class:
W – Scotty Campbell, ’88 Camaro, 6.19 dial, .0088 RT, 6.1932 RT, 104.70mph
R/U – Steve Niedenberger, ’69 Camaro, 6.20 dial, .0233 RT, 6.2077 ET, 108.88mph
Almost heads up race, both racers run right on the dial in, but the holeshot gives Scotty the rare double up on the day!

Final rounds from the May 15, 2022 Points Day #3 for the IHRA Summit Super Series/Southern Bracket Racing Association and the Bower Hill Auto Body Nostalgia Iron Muscle Cars. Because of a lightning strike the scoreboards were not working all weekend. And apologies for video/audio issues due to corrupted files that had to be recovered and repaired. May 15 results

RJ’s Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 7-11 year old class:
W – Nathan Benish, 8.97 dial in, .0081 reaction time, 9.0220 elapsed time, 70.96mph
R/U – Ryder Luttner, 8.92 dial in, .3453 reaction time, 8.9974 elapsed time, 70.69mph
Nathan with the huge advantage on the tree, and just .0001 different from Saturday’s final, has plenty of room up top to win his third straight!

RJ’s Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 12-17 year old class:
W – Cody Shondelmeyer, 7.93 dial in, .0110 RT, 7.9853 ET, 79.93mph
R/U – Kayla Penn, 7.98 dial in, .0388 RT, 7.9716 ET, 80.91mph
Kayla takes .036 at the finish line, but breaks out by .0084 to make Cody the winner.
Z&M Cycles Motorcycle class:
W – Joe Devola, '11 Suzuki GSX-R750, 6.95 dial, .0309 RT, 7.0398 ET, 93.89mph
R/U – Mike Mungai, ZX14, 5.87 dial, .2053 RT, 5.8519 ET, 118.23mph
Mike is in his second straight final, but gives up too much on the tree to multi time champ Joe, who has plenty of room to take the win by .08.

B&R Speed Supply Sportsman class:
W – Bill Cline, ’64 Malibu, 8.56 dial, .0636 RT, 8.5931 ET, 80.62mph
R/U – Amy Romeo, ’73 Pontiac Ventura, 7.74 dial, .1376 RT, 7.7069 ET, 90.78mph
Bill takes this one from stripe to stripe for the win, when Amy in uncharacteristically late, and goes under trying to get around.

Bower Hill Auto Body Nostalgia Iron Muscle class (1/4 mile):
W – Barry Donnelly, ‘72 Plymouth Barracuda, 9.10 dial in, .0114 RT, 9.1142 ET, 140.14mph
R/U – Sam Michuk, ‘72 Plymouth Duster, 11.05 dial in, .0196 RT, 11.1294 ET, 121.39mph
A pair of ’72 Plymouths paired up, .008 apart on the tree, both drivers off their dials a bit, .023 MOV to Barry in the win.

Latrobe Auto Group Modified class:
W – Jeff Stewart, ’64 Malibu, 6.35 dial, .0208 RT, 6.3642 RT, 105.81mph
R/U – Smoke Loar, ‘84 Monte Carlo, 6.54 dial, .0242 RT, 6.5776 ET, 99.69mph
.0034 apart at the hit, looks like Smoke drops anchor up top, had .0097 to get in on, Jeff gets his first win in his gorgeous new ride! 2 ’64 Malibus in the winner circle on the same day!

Top Fuel Energy Services Top class:
W – Matt Brehm, dragster 4.97 dial, .0147 RT, 4.9758 RT, 137.32mph
R/U – Bob Welsh, dragster, 4.80 dial, .0226 RT, 4.8080 ET, 143.59mph
Great race! .008 apart on the tree, both drivers right on their dials, but Matt’s .0205 package locks Bob out, Matt getting the win by .01!
