DRR Trophy |
Found this on another site and thought it was worth posting here!!!
Fred Craw started enjoying a passion for cars and speed soon after receiving his driving license .He liked the mechanical challenge of making improvements and seeing the results at the track. Not long after getting his license Fred joined the Navy, that’s when he had a boating accident that left him with a spinal cord injury. Not letting that slow him down Fred went on to lead the normal life marrying the love of his life Vicki, and having two children, Stephanie and Heather. He still loved racing and with the help of some of his friends they put together a race car with hand controls and Fred was back out there on the race track again. Then in 1992 NHRA and the Napp family came up with Junior Drag Racing and Fred thought it would be nice the share the sport he loved with his daughters. Fred and Stephanie’s first car was homemade, as where most at that time They did very well and also won Best home built car several times. After a few years of racing, the junior people started asking Fred to build motors for them and that’s where Craw’s racing started. Mike Bos. of Chassis Craft fame was the first chassis builder to work with Fred on the chassis end of things, and is still supplying the house cars today. Now selling every thing to do with junior dragsters in a large mail order business. Fred will answer the phone at all times of day, night and weekends too. He really enjoys helping people tune there combination to it’s full potential. With His motors winning everything from local track events to track championships, Divisional championships, Eastern conference finals, and two of his own house cars winning at the Eastern conference finals. His motors have also won championships in Australia and England. On two different occasions family’s from Australia have come to the US to race at the Eastern Conference Finals and Fred has supplied them with competitive race cars to use while they were here. Junior drag racing is a life style for Fred. He is one of the reasons Jr. dragsters have came so far in technology in such a short time, He is also on the NHRA JR DRAG RACING LEAGUE rules committee where safety is the main concern. He sponsors classes at the National, Divisional, and local levels. Most of his customers become more like family and are life long friends. I don’t see any end to JR Dragsters in Fred’s future. Congrat's to Fred Craw of Craws Racing for being inducted to the NHRA HALL OF FAME at the north east div. 1 banquet!!!!!. what an honor. For those of us that do business with Fred it comes as no surprise that something like this would happen to such a great guy.

I have dealt with Fred [who owns Craws Racing] for 6 years now. A great guy who is in JR drag racing for the love of it. Fred has developed parts and tested things to help make JR. drag racing what it is today. He knows these cars inside and out and will tell you what you need to fix any problems. A honest guy with no fancy gimmicks. What good you do on this earth is always rewarded and Fred is getting his just dues. Congratulations Fred and thank you for what you have done for the sport of JR. drag racing.

I have known Fred for over 10 years now. That is the year we started in jr dragsters. Meat him for the first time at 75/80.Fred is honest and sincere in his motives. He IS NOT a false profit as i have seen others be. It is not "his way or the highway". No one excluded when Craws's racing put up the money. It is about being good, honest and helping your fellow man/racer. They simply do not get much better than Fred, Vickie, Ray and all the guys at Craws Racing. Very deserving Fred.
